What is a LMS?

A learning management system is a software environment for organizing educational activities and for developing, sharing and managing knowledge.

Learning Management Systems

A learning management system or Learning Management System (LMS) manages, administers and facilitates everything concerning your e-learning activities. This means not only providing a platform for designing, creating and implementing content, but also for registering claims, providing online communication options about teaching material and supporting online knowledge sharing. Course administration and registration, skills gap analysis and reporting options are also included. Learning management systems are available in different variants: one system has more functionalities/features than the other.

Also for educational institutions

Learning management systems are also used by educational institutions to improve and support classroom teaching, and to offer courses to larger amounts of pupils or students.

Goal

The goal of an LMS is to optimally support an implementation process in the organization regarding training, learning and knowledge sharing. So if you want to optimize the organization and management of training and development of your employees, then a learning management system is a very suitable tool. Employees can work specifically on their personal development. Managers keep a constant view of the training planning, the learning history and the competences within their team.
